Samurai warriors is an original game developed by Omega Force & published by Koei. It was first released in Japan on February 11th, 2004. Since then, the series has released a total of 9 games and several expansions until 2021. The latest sequel of the Samurai Warriors series came out on June 24th, 2021.
An anime movie named Samurai Warriors Special: Legend of the Sanada was aired on March 21, 2014. The movie was directed by Kōjin Ochi, written by Yuka Yamada, and produced by studio TYO. After that on January 11th, 2015, the series returned as a TV animation which was produced in collaboration by studio TYO & Tezuka production. It ended after airing 12 episodes on March 29, 2015.
Will There Be Samurai Warriors Season 2?
Well, for the most part, Samurai Warrior’s first season was a promotional anime. Its main purpose was to promote the game by reaching more players as well as watchers who are interested in gaming too. But the series wasn’t able to pull off the adaptation in a good manner. It had no seamed storyline, which pissed off many fans. As a result, it was harshly criticized for its similarity to the game Dynasty Warriors by the same publisher.
The first season wasn’t rated very well and only managed to get a score of 6.54 on MyAnimeList. So, the chances for Samurai Warriors Season 2 to happen are very low now. But, now the game is starting to make up for it. The developers released the 5th installment of the game in 2021, and the popularity of the game is increasing continuously. So, there is a possibility that the makers will renew the series as a promotional anime again.
Plot Details
The story of Samurai Warriors takes place in old Japan and follows the series 4th sequel of the game, featuring an ongoing war. In the anime, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is on the edge of uniting the empire, and all that stands in his way is the Odawara Castle. It is guarded by Ujiyasu Hojo, the “Lion of Sagami” & his generals. The Sanada clan also breaks the deadlock & joins the war.
The viewers who don’t like historical anime much, but enjoy the tension of wars could give this show a try, and this might change their opinion. The series is a war drama that features a battle between the imperial & warriors. The action in it is top-notch along with animation and portrays the beauty and blight of warcraft profoundly.
Samurai Warriors Season 2: Release Date
One of the most important things that can decide the future of the anime is the continuation of the game. The anime was inspired by the 4th installment of the game series, and the 4th sequel came out in two different parts on a different date. So, there is still some content that can be adapted in Samurai Warriors Season 2. If the studios come together again for the sequel, then the anime might return in 2023.
