BanG Dream Season 4: Will The Series Return For Next Run?
Every single music or idol anime fan must’ve heard about shows like K-on, Love-Live, The Idolmaster, and BanG Dream! All of these were really good in their own way. But BanG Dream is one of those anime that managed to stand out in the genre, and hence its popularity is also increasing.
The series has been on the run for a while now. Its third season came out the previous year, and now fans are waiting to see their favorite band take the stage again in BanG Dream Season 4. Will the series return for another run & when will it premiere? Keep on reading to know all the details.
Manga Compared To Anime
BanG Dream is an original musical franchise by Bushiroad. The success of the Love-Live series greatly inspired its president Takaaki Kidani. BanG Dream series originally started as a manga and then expanded its media franchises. The original manga series of BanG Dream Star beat was written by Ko Nakamura and illustrated by Aya Ishida. It was first published in January 2015 and ran only till December 2015, completing its two volumes & 12 chapters.
Then, the light novel written by Nakamura and illustrated by Hitowa, which follows Star Beat’s story, was published on August 25, 2016, by ASCII work. Then another manga that followed the series ran from April 2016 to February 2019. It was illustrated by Mami Kashiwabara and written by Ko Nakamura. Later, a manga named Yonkoma: Bandori!, written by Hakuto Shiroi, was published by ASCII Media and completed its 2 volumes. Following this BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Roselia stage was published as a spin-off for the other band written by Pepako Dokuta, which ran from February 10, 2017 – September 25, 2017, and completed its two volumes & 11 chapters.
The franchise has done so well that it has its own mobile game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! developed Craft Egg with more than 5 million downloads all over the world. The previous three seasons of the Original anime had 39 episodes which aired from January 21th 2017 to April 23, 2020. The great thing is that the previous three seasons didn’t cover all the source material, and the studio still has content to make BanG Dream Season 4.
Will There Be BanG Dream Season 4?
The makers released a film called BanG Dream! Live in 2019. It is the first installment of a trilogy about Roselia and the Poppin Party’s lives. The producers had already confirmed two more films, from which the second one was released in theaters in 2021, and the third one, The Popping Party, is going to be released in January 2022. So the production of the series isn’t taking any rest! And the previous two movies have already grossed more than 300 million yen. So, it will be a huge loss to discontinue this series. Therefore, the chances are great that the fans will get to see BanG Dream Season 4 in the near future after the movie series releases.
Plot Details
The Bang Dream storyline follows Kasumi Toyama, who wants the thrilling sound called “Star Beat” to hear again which she heard as a child. This desire of her led to the creation of the Party Poppin band and different all-girls band groups, which pursue their dreams and goals and enjoy the music and love and thrill. The previous season of the anime focused on Band Party Poppin, which tinged their journey of High school facing other bands who followed their dreams.
In the 3rd season, we saw the characters in their senior year of high school. So, if BanG Dream Season 4 is ever made, all the lead characters will be in college. Poppin’Party, along with Roselia and Raise Suilen, competed in the Girls Band Challenge finals in the anime’s last episode. So they will aim for something bigger in the forthcoming season.
BanG Dream Season 4: Release date
The creators of the series aren’t short on funds, and the series is also performing great. Therefore, the fans can expect to get an update on BanG Dream Season 4 anytime after the release of the third film after January 2022. If the announcement arrives with the movie, then the fourth season might premiere sometime in 2023.
