Harem anime is a very disputed anime genre as it is being loved and hated at the same time. But still, this genre is one of the most popular. It’s fan base is just as big as the shonen anime, and hence the creators desperately try to make a good harem series that can fulfill the guilty pleasures of the viewers. However, many harem anime come and go, lastly forgotten.
But, Heaven Lost Property managed to leave its impact and it is also celebrated as an example of an amazing & perfect harem anime. Now, it is very difficult for other animes to overtake the bar this anime has set.

Manga & Anime
Heaven’s Lost Property aka Sora no Otoshimono is an original manga series, written & illustrated by Suu Minazuki, and published by Kadokawa Shoten. The series has finished 20 volumes & 97 chapters from March 26th, 2007 till January 26th, 2014.
The manga received an anime adaptation by studio AIC A.S.T.A. Directed by Hisashi Saitou, the anime aired 13 episodes and an OVA from October 4th, 2009 to December 27th, 2009.
There are also two spin-off light novels. Both are illustrated by the original author but different writers. LNs were published in February 2010 & October 2010 respectively.
In the 12 episodes long second season of Heaven’s Lost Property: Forte, the previous staff and cast returned. The sequel began airing on October 1st, 2010 and ran till December 17th, 2010. Apart from this series has bagged several game, fanfic & spin-off adaptations across the world.
The series has also two canon anime movies adaptations as well. The first one is Heaven’s Lost Property the Movie: The Angeloid of Clockwork, which was released on June 25th, 2011. Whereas, the second movie, titled Heaven’s Lost Property Final – The Movie: Eternally My Master, premiered on April 26th, 2014.
Will There Be Heaven’s Lost Property Season 3?
The last update regarding the third season of the anime came back in January 2012. The magazine Shounen Ace, which serialized the HLP series, announced in January 2012 that the third installment of the series was confirmed, but was later canceled. On October 10th, 2013, Heaven’s Lost Property Season 3 was replaced by a theatrical movie on the series official website. (3rd season replacement & movie announcement)
The movie concluded the storyline of the anime and left no space for another installment. But the series is a huge hit among harem fans, and hence not continuing it would be a huge loss. But the production studio already exhausted all the source material. Therefore, now the chances are very less that the fans will get to see the third season of this harem drama.
Plot Details
The series followed a young countryside boy named Tomoki Sakurai who wakes every day with a strange dream in which he sees an angel crying. Seeking the help of one of his seniors, who is obsessed over the legend of the flying continent, Tomoki began researching his dreams. Though, one day at midnight, an angel fell from the sky & declares herself as Tomoki’s servant.
Now, with this unusual entity joining their research, Tomoki’s oddity seemed to begin to unravel. They uncover some grim truths behind the angeloid’s existence and new continent. The series swings between comedy and drama so profoundly that no fan can resist laughing and crying at the same moment.
The last movie which was the final adaptation of the series was a bit different from the canon story. The movie adapted the 45th chapter and some further chapters of the canon manga. The movie developed a different ending from the manga which led to an alternate and “unfinished ending” for the fans. So, the next series may have the epilogue, where Ikarus can return following the manga story and finally give fans a good ending.
Release Date
The fans were disappointed with the death of Ikarus. So, there were rumors that there could be another movie that would cover the manga chapter 77, and finally conclude the anime. However, it has already been six years. So, the chances of renewal are becoming very slim. But, this gap was kind of very necessary to gather a big fanbase that can provide good reception to the finale season. If any update comes this year, then Heaven’s Lost Property finale might premiere in the middle of 2023.
