A New Arc Cues the Return of Dragon Ball Super Manga

The Dragon Ball Super manga will return in December with the chapter 88th issue and will start a new arc the fans were looking forward to.

Shueisha’s V Jump has announced that the magazine’s 20th December release will showcase Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 88. The chapter will start a new arc said to be a prequel to the recent franchise movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. As the movie was focused on Gohan and Picolo, the new arc will also take them in the spotlight along with Trunks and Goten duo.

Dragon Ball Super is a new manga written by the original author Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou. It has been ongoing since 2015 on Jump V and has collected 19 volumes until August 2022. The new manga is a canon follow-up of the original Dragon Ball manga, which ran between 1984 and 1995.

While the Dragon Ball Super anime series aired 131 episodes from 2015 to 2017, the franchise released a new movie named Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The movie was a huge hit with a gross income of 124 million USD worldwide. The movie is the second most successful behind Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which came out in 2018.

The upcoming arc will follow the movie’s story where Son Goku once annihilated the Red Ribbon Army. The ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, who called themselves “SuperHeroes”, assault Piccolo and Gohan. What is the goal of the New Red Ribbon Army? Will Gohan and Picolo be able to stop this evil along with new generation which also features Gotan and Trunks?
