Short anime series generally focus on comedy, and it is very rare to see action in this genre. Many creators try to stand out somewhere in the production to make the show a hit, but not everyone becomes successful in it.
It is a harsh truth that these kinds of shows get ignored by many fans who seek some long-lasting action or drama. Though Space Patrol Luluco took this challenge and did a fantastic job. The series packed a punch of comedy and action in 6 minute long episodes, which fascinated many fans.
But it was not nice of the creators to end the series so early, and on top of that, they haven’t provided any update on further episodes for the last 5 years. On 2nd February 2016, Studio Trigger announced an original anime series in the form of Space Patrol Luluco. The series was directed & written by the founder of the studio Hiroyuki Imaishi & co-directed by Akira Amemiya. This short anime aired in different ways, where the 13 episodes were divided into 5 seasons. It ran from April 1st, 2016 to June 24th, 2016. On April 19th, 2016 the series manga adaptation came out, which was illustrated by Nanboku and published by Shueisha. It published 3 chapters under a single volume, on June 18th, 2016.
Will There Be Space Patrol Luluco Season 2?
So far, the makers haven’t announced anything regarding the show’s sequel. But the franchise is still active on TV and other media. On top of it, Space Patrol Luluco has a rating of 7.57 by 65k members on its MAL group and is ranked #1416 overall & #1321 on the popularity poll.
Moreover, the references and the story connect it to anime like Kill la Kill, with Life-Fibers. Also, fans get to see Kagari from Little Witch Academia. Studio Trigger is already showing its interest in the corner which is teasing fans for more upcoming crossover as the sequel of the anime. So, fans can look forward to the announcement of the sequel.
Plot Details
The story follows Luluco, who just wants a normal middle school life, but in a world where aliens and humans coexist. One day, his father, who works under Space Patrol, accidentally eats an unstable sleep capsule which freezes him. Her father, who is now stuck in a lump of ice, tries to help him but breaks him instead.
Seeking help, she goes to the Space Patrol chief’s office, where the chief asks her to join the Patrol as the temporary undercover officer to uncover the crimes in her school. With her partner in an intelligent Space Suit, she is now ready to hunt down some criminals. Though her normal school life takes a hit. The series ended with Luluco becoming a dimensional officer and setting out to find Nova.
Space Patrol Luluco Season 2: Release Date
So, there is a high chance we can see Luluco again very soon. The studio Trigger has already announced a crossover movie Grindman x Dynazenon, and fans are desperately waiting for it. So, there is a possibility that Space Patrol Luluco might also get an update in mid-2022 or 2023.
