Norn9 Season 2: What are the Chances of Series Return?

Norn9 is really one of the underrated Shoujo anime. The series was really a ride of emotions and adventure for the viewers. It featured a blend of romance and drama that managed to catch the attention of anime lovers. Not all anime provided fans with a good ending or complete end, but Norn9 was able to pull it off with just 12 episodes. Now more than five years have passed and its followers are still looking for next season. So, will Norn return with its season 2? Keep on reading to know. 

Game & Anime

Norn9 is originally an Otome game developed by Otomate and published by Idea Factory. The first game named Norn9 Norun+Nonetto was launched on May 23, 2013. The second game of the same series was named Norn9: Var Commons and was released on December 11, 2014. On April 2, 2015, the franchise announced another game named Norn9: Last Era.

The game series was so well received by fans that the makers announced an anime adaptation for it. The Norn9 anime was produced by studio Kinema Citrus and Orange, and the series was directed by Takao Abo and written by Natsuko Takahashi. The series ran for 12 episodes from January 7 to March 31, 2016, along with a special episode named Norn9: Recap.

Will There Be Norn9 Season 2?

The series underwent a bit of a fame crisis. Initially, it performed well but wasn’t able to maintain a long-lasting impact on the viewers. At the time of writing, the series is rated 6.56 by 26k members on MAL & was ranked #5818 & #1915 on the popularity poll. So renewing the anime can be a huge gamble for the makers. Also, the ending of its first season was quite satisfactory, leaving no stone unturned. Therefore, Norn9 Season 2 would be a high surprise because studios don’t usually renew any show after providing it a conclusive ending. Hence, the chances of this series getting a second season are very low. 

What’s the Series about?

The story of Norn9 is set in a futuristic world where a group of teenagers consisting of 9 boys and 3 girls is deployed in a ship called Norn. Their destination is set up by an organization named “The World” on Earth. However, after getting attacked by unknown aircraft they ended up at an unknown location where they met Suzuhara Sorata, a young elementary school student from the Heisei Era. He is warped via time skip to an unfamiliar region that looks very much like the towns from the Meiji or Taisho periods from his textbooks, guided by one particular song. He meets three young ladies and nine young men on this planet and accompanies them on a journey onboard the enigmatic Norn ship, a massive globe that floats in mid-air.

The series ended with every character living their best life, especially Koharu and Kakeru as they ended up together. The fact that Kakeru was still alive really shocked the fans. 

Norn9 Season 2: Release Date

The creators and the studio haven’t had any updates on the series for a while. Also, the bad news is that the official website of the anime was already taken down. Therefore, Norn9 Season 2 will probably never get made. However, still, if any update is given regarding the renewal of the series, then it might take place sometime in 2023.
