Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer’s season 3, which will include the Swordsmith Village arc, has taken the spot of third most anticipated anime of 2023. 

With its manga recently ending with few extras and epilogues, the fans can barely wait to see each of their favorite chapters to be adapted. So, when will Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer season 3 premiere? Get details on release date, storyline, plot, arc, cast, new characters and more information.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Release date 

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer Season 3 is set to release in April 2023. The Swordsmith Village Arc will kick off with a one-hour special pilot episode. The official date for the simulcast and television premiere is yet to be announced.

This season’s first episode will also air early as part of a global theatrical screening event that will also include episodes 10 and 11 of Demon Slayer season two. Dates for this global screenings are as below:

• United Kingdom – March 1
• United States & Canada – March 3
• Paris(France)- February 25
• Berlin(Germany) – February 26
• Mexico City(Mexico) – March 4
• Seoul ( South Korea)/- March 11
• Taipei(Taiwan) – March 19

Due to the arc length, the season is expected to have 12 to 14 episodes. Only the Swordsmith Village arc will be included in the third season.

Which Arc will Demon  Slayer Season 3 Adapt?

Demon Slayer season 3 will adapt the 9th Arc of the manga, namely The Swordsmith Village arc or Katanakaji no Sato Hen. The arc spans from chapter 98(volume 12) to chapter 27(volume 15) and is a fairly big arc.

The arc will focus on Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, and two other Hasiras, Love Hashira: Mitsuri Kanroji, and Mist Hashira: Muichiro Tokito.

The arc has a good balance of action, twists, and revelations from the story. It won’t have much of the trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke working together, but fans will see them sometimes. Furthermore, the arc will commence the climax of the entire series. Hence missing out on this season will be a waste for all fans.

Staff, New Characters & Cast 

The official website and Crunchyroll have already announced the main staff and two of the new cast members for the next season. Apart from that, most of the staff and cast will reprise their roles in the next season. The staff includes:

Plot 

The season 3 plot starts with Tanjiro is recovering at the Butterfly Mansion after a great battle at the end of Entertainment District arc in season 2. On the other hand, Muzan called the Upper Moon with unrest in his mind after Gyutaro and Daki’s death.Gyokko then reveals his intel about the Swordsmith village and Muzan orders him to destroy it to weaken Demon Slayers.

Tanjiro’s body took great damage and he had to rest for a brief time. After recovery, he was all set to join his duty again until he gets the letter from Hotaru, who curses him and refuses to send him the Nichiren Sword. With no choice left,Tanjiro sets on a journey for the secret Swordsmith Village. 

With his face covered, Tanjiro gets escorted to the village by a Demon Slayer Corps guide. After a brief trip and change of guides, Tanjiro arrives at the Swordsmith Village where he meets Mitsuri Kanroji.

With no hostility for Nezuko, Mitsuri meets them with utmost love and affection just like her title of Love Hashira. Later, Tanjiro finds Genya Shinazugawa in the hot springs, which becomes a bittersweet meeting for him.

Soon, Tanjiro encounters Muichiro Tokito beating up Kotetsu and stops him. Tanjiro finds Muchiro’s airhead personality troublesome, but he rescues him anyway. To return the favor Kotetsu fixes Yoriichi Type Zero training doll so that Tanjiro can start his training again.

Soon, two of the Upper Moon attack the village which leads to Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya and Mitsuri taking them on Hantengu. After a brief battle with Hantengu, Tanjiro had to make a difficult decision- either he can kill Hantengu or save Nezuko from sunlight. With tears in his eyes, he chooses to save the Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer corps safely.

While crying over his invaluable sacrifice, Tanjiro looks at Nezuko who is still unharmed. Muzan somehow feels and finds out that Nezuko has developed immunity from the sun and begins his hunt. With that, we see a brief glimpse of Muzan’s past, and thus the new arc, the Hashira Training arc begins.
