On April 8, 2021, Shogakukan announced the much-anticipated anime adaptation of this manga series. On September 7, 2021, the official website announced the staff and revealed the first key visual of the anime. It was also revealed that Dance Dance Danseur will be animated by MAPPA animation studio. Dance Dance Danseur is an original manga series, written & illustrated by George Asakura. He is renowned for getting many live-adaptation of his previous series like Perfect Day for a Love Letter & others. The series was published by Shogakukan on September 14, 2015, and is still ongoing. So far, the manga has published a total of 22 volumes.
The manga can be said to be a well-chosen art & its story is the key reason why the manga got so famous. The story’s original genre is Seinen but the art style is somewhat close to Shoujo and Joseï. However, it follows a shonen storyline. The plot and drama around it has made its story loved by fans of every group. Plot Details
The story of Dance Dance Danseur follows Junpei Murao who falls in love with the art of ballet. He saw a male ballet dancer joining her sister’s performance & instantly decided to learn the same dance form.
Due to this passion for ballet, Murao becomes a butt of jokes in middle school. But, he never gives up on his dream to become the best Danseur. His father is also against this, as he did not consider ballet as manly enough. While Murao didn’t think much about his father’s objections initially, his heart got lumped with strange regret when his father passed away due to a heart attack. Therefore, Murao then decides to leave Ballet once for all and pursue to learn Jeet Kune Do, a martial art influenced by Bruce Lee.
One day while showing off Jeet Kune Do to his friends, Junpei merges ballet and martial arts, it resulted in an astonishing kick that pulls Miyako Godai’s attention. She confronts Junpei and pulls him to her older sister’s ballet class, where she wants him to compete. His life becomes a game of balancing his outer look and what his heart truly desires as he is drawn deeper into the world of dance.
